Airbnb has launched an exciting new feature for event-goers and organisers; one that will help find listings near to a venue. The new tool, called Airbnb for Events, allows event planners to create their own interactive maps on a specially created landing page on the Airbnb website.
Created to cover a wide range of events, from weddings to business exhibitions, using the new Airbnb for Events section will simplify the search for nearby venues, further putting pressure on the hotel industry.
New online services
Various additional services will be embedded into the new Airbnb for Events feature, covering everything from city guides to ticketing services. Already signed up to the feature include; WeddingWire, RSVPify, Insider, Inspirock, Taquilla and Picatic.
For example, online wedding planner, WeddingWire will allow people to send wedding invites via their website. Now synced with Airbnb for Events, guests will also receive details of property rental listings nearby.
As well as the significant commercial benefits Airbnb will gain from the new feature, Airbnb for Events will also help improve relations between the online marketplace and the cities they service. Offering services that help increase tourism in a particular city can be mutually beneficial.
Airbnb explained:
“We know cities often don’t have capacity to handle sudden or expected surges (resulting from events), so today we’re launching our new Airbnb for Events tool to offer event organisers and conference planners the ability to create an interactive map of Airbnb listings that are near their venues and embed the map directly on their event website in just minutes.”
Whilst a unique new venture for the brand, this is just the latest in a series of updates from Airbnb.
