Airbnb have over the past year gathered so much press, positioning themselves as the future of holiday rental. With the likes of Kim Kardashian and her marketing convoy working with the brand they can not afford any bad press, required to carry out high levels of due diligence before adding properties onto their books.

This week it has been announced that one property in Queens slipped through the net, with a Swedish model-turned-medical student shelling out $1,500 for what turned out to be a brothel!

It was reported that the property was used as a secret brothel while the renters were away, with the five-bedroom duplex operating unlawfully all the way through the night.

Making the Airbnb customer understandably uncomfortable the customer did not see the whole trip out, having to experience this incredible ordeal whilst flying from Sweden to study cancer.

Talking on the experience the 26 year old said:

“I heard the zippers go down and I heard noises,” he said. “Moaning.”

“I could see the bed had been used, and there’s toilet paper with bodily liquids lying on the floor,” he said.

Contacting the owner of the property the Swedish student was refused a refund, with the host stating:

“We had an agreement and that agreement still stands” — and further threatened to sue Brorson for spreading “false rumors.”

The host also continued to refuse that the property was being used as a brothel, claiming the people seen going in and out of the bedrooms were there to work on the house. Seeing Airbnb get involved the property and the host has apparently been taken off of the rental platform, with a spokesman saying:

“We have removed the host from our platform and are refunding the guest entirely.”

“Prostitution is not allowed and we have a zero tolerance policy on it,” he added.
