Nixon Hire, one of the biggest names in plant and equipment hire, is this week celebrating their 50th birthday, thrilled to have reached what they are calling their ‘golden year’.
But, meeting this landmark is not the only achievement of the brand’s this year, recently announcing that their turnover had surpassed £60m for the first time ever.
Though promoting solid growth figures, Nixon Hire came from humble beginnings. Founded in 1967 by John Nixon, the firm boasts the same chairman as day one, remaining a family-centered company. Now enjoying 460 employees, Nixon Hire bases can be found at 14 depots across England and Scotland.
What has changed in the last year?
So, ‘what has made 2018 such a momentous year?’ I hear you ask. Well, according to the firm, they have invested heavily in new equipment, spending over £26.9m on items over the past 12 months. This is in addition to the £10m spent in 2016.
Nixon Hire also acquired assets from Hewden when they went into administration, taking over their depot in Nottingham. Aiding the company’s growth and allowing them to enter new markets, this acquisition has proved to be a wonderful addition to the portfolio.
Releasing a report on their successful year, the company wrote the following:
“We are pleased with the current performance of the business and are optimistic for the next 12 months. The company will continue to grow by increasing the size of the hire fleet operating from within the existing depot network.
“Additional depots will be added over the next few years as the depot network expands southwards. The investments and efficiencies made and planned will also enable the business to continue to grow in terms of turnover, profit, geographical trading area and product offering.”
At Anything for Hire, we would like to say a Happy Birthday and congratulations to the brand. Here is to another 50 years of success!
