Planning a wedding can be a stressful affair. And whether you’re trying to book a venue or organise wedding car hire, it’s often difficult to know where to start. After all, wedding fairs and packed with people trying to convince you that their products are the best of the best. And if you shop online, there’s no guarantee that you’ll get what you’re paying for.
So how can you sort the wheat from the chaff and ensure a quality service for your big day? Thankfully, wedding magazine Hitched has just launched the first of its annual awards, recognising the best venues and suppliers across the UK.
With the wedding industry finally picking up after years of uncertainty, there were plenty of companies keen to prove themselves. In fact, a staggering 16,000 wedding businesses participated in the 2022 awards. And in order to determine which ones deserved to come out on top, magazine staff looked at feedback from nearly eight million couples. After analysing reviews from the top 5%, they were able to announce winners in no fewer than 17 different categories.
Drawn from across the UK, the winners represent the very best in wedding service — and the team at Hitched hope that the accolades will help future brides and grooms to make the right choices for their special day.
Winners in the wedding venue category include Berwick Lodge in Bristol, the Monastery in Greater Manchester, Shustoke Farm Barns in Birmingham, and Grove House in South West London. Meanwhile, Castaway Weddings in Zanzibar shared the award for best travel and honeymoon company with Cavo Zoe Seaside Hotel in Cyprus and Hedge Travel, an agency based in South London.
Other categories included Beauty, Hair and Makeup, which saw more than 100 practitioners across the length and breadth of the country win recognition for their skills. And in the wedding planners category, Elisabeth Shell Events in Devon, The Planning Suite in East Central London, and The Bespoke Planner in Hertfordshire were among the winners.
According to Hitched, the awards team considered lots of different factors when it came to making a decision, including professionalism, quality of work, flexibility, and customer service. As of September 2022 the results are online for everyone to see.
