A hire a husband service offering single ladies the chance to hire a man to carry out jobs about the house has been launched in the former soviet republic of Georgia.
The company calls itself A Husband for an Hour Limited and offers handy men for hire to perform household jobs including fixing leaking taps, taking out rubbish, changing light bulbs, fitting shelves and other minor repair works and DIY jobs in the home.
However the service has been misinterpreted by many women who have contacted the hire company to ask for a more involved service from the husbands on offer. In fact, the company owner, Beso Mchedlishvili revealed that the hire firm receives more requests for intimate services from female customers than enquiries regarding the services actually offered.
The husband hire boss said they’ve had to explain on many occasion that the husbands for hire are “not male prostitutes” in order to clarify the situation for confused prospective customers.
The company first launched itself in Georgia at the end of the last year and has been running for the last two months. However given the confusion the service has caused amongst the women in the region, A Husband for an Hour may need to reconsider their marketing angle.
