Facebook to hire thousands of new staff for New York office

The world’s largest social network, Facebook, is planning to almost double the size of its workforce within the next year with plans to launch an engineering centre in New York City.

The plans for the new recruitment drive and company expansion were announced on Friday by Facebook Chief Operating Operator, Sheryl Sandberg, who revealed that the social network would be looking to add thousands of employees to the Facebook payroll over the course of the next year.

However all of that is due to change over the next 12 months with plans afoot to open a brand new engineering centre in New York in early 2012 employing skilled engineers to enhance the site’s features and write new coding to ensure Facebook’s 800 million users worldwide benefit from the very latest technology and online features.

According to a report from the TV network, Facebook are currently accepting applications to fill their vacancies at their New York base.
