Here at Anything for Hire, we are thrilled to see so many rental brands doing their bit for charity; being an industry that makes continuous efforts to make a difference. This week is no different, with Barney-based vehicle hire company, Arrow Self Drive, displaying just how seriously they take corporate responsibility. As Yorkshire’s largest vehicle rental company, the business has this week announced that they will be heading into a long-term partnership with Barnsley Hospice.
Barnsley Hospice plays a key role in the local community, delivering specialist care to hundreds of residents. This includes those with both active and progressive illnesses including cancer and heart disease.
Using their nine retail stores dotted around the region, the charity continues to raise money to carry out their work, generating on average 2m a year. This is in addition to £1.6m grant from the NHS.
Helping meet fundraising targets
Supporting the charity in various ways, the rental firm will give Barnsley exclusive access to its Luton tail lift van, enabling them to use the vehicle across the hospice’s nine retail sites.
This will see the charity increase the number of deliveries they can cater to, allowing them to deliver larger donated items and consequently raise more money.
Retail manager of Barnsley Hospice, Stephen Hatfield, said:
“Buying things from our shops, or donating good quality stock, is a great way of supporting the hospice and just as important as fundraising. Up until now have relied on an old Luton van, but this larger new Luton van gives us greater capacity to move around bulky items, and its tail lift will make it easier for our team to load and unload heavy furniture.
“The costs associated with running and maintaining a vehicle can be high and as a charity this would be a big financial burden, so we are delighted with the vehicle and servicing that Arrow Self Drive will provide through the partnership. We thank Arrow Self Drive for their support at a crucial time of growth for us.”
Louise Ramsbottom, Manager at Arrow Self Drive Barnsley also passed comment:
“We are delighted to be able to support the Hospice in this way. Like most local companies, we have, in the past, helped the Hospice through the odd hire here and there and through our fundraising tea parties.
“We hope that by extending our support and providing them with a dedicated vehicle long term will make a real difference to them. Supporting our local communities is a key aim of the Company and we will continue to help wherever we can.”
