While Londoners across the city may be clearing out their spare rooms to offer for rent when the Olympics rolls into town next year, it seems the Queen is also looking to jump on the bandwagon and has personally approved a number of state rooms at St James Palace for hire during the international sporting event.
However at an average cost of £30,000 a day, it’s believed that only private companies and the very wealthy will be the only ones with a big enough budget to hire selected rooms at the palace during the London 2012 Olympics.
A handpicked selection of some of the most exquisite state apartments, including the Throne Room, Tapestry Room and the Queen Anne Room, will be made available for hire by private corporations during the summer sporting occasion. Dinners, lunches and receptions for up to 500 guests can be accommodated as part of the room hire of one of the lavish state apartments at St James Palace.
The move to offer rooms for rent at St James Palace, which is home to the Princess Royal and Princess Beatrice, signals a 500 year break in royal protocol.
As well as offering a stunning backdrop to any event, the location couldn’t be more convenient for those hoping to enjoy the Olympic Games as St James Palace is just a short walk from The Horse Guards Parade, where the Volleyball championships will take place, and also The Mall where the marathon will take place.
However you’ll have to act swiftly to hire a room at St James Palace during the London 2012 Olympics as the selected dates offered are almost fully booked.
