Here at Anything For Hire News we love to celebrate successes in the hire market, with today revealing another car hire success story.

The company responsible for the UK branch of the Thrifty car and van rental franchise has reported growth in both turnover and profitability, showcasing a pretty attractive bank balance. Promising “further strategic expansion” over the course of the next year.

The accounts speak for themselves

While many see such statement as a way to gain a bit of free PR their filed accounts are accessible, validating the firm’s words. Accounts for Scot Group Southern Ltd shows that turnover grew to £108.5m in the year ending 31 March 2016, a figure that was up from £102.1m in 2014/15.The documents also state that pre-tax profit also rose to £34.4m from £31.1m from the previous year.

A delighted workforce

Overwhelmed by the state of the business many of the owners have progressed words of thanks and support, excited to enter the next quarter and relive the success story.

Roger Hancock, managing director of Thrifty Car & Van Rental UK, said:

“We are delighted with the company performance which continues to enjoy increased turnover and record profits.

“Our UK-wide network has experienced growth during 2015/2016 with further strategic expansion planned in 2016/2017. Our award winning service provision continues to be recognised as the best in the industry and something the entire Thrifty team is proud of.

“We are extremely optimistic about the future but mindful of the economic climate and the weakened value of the pound, particularly against the euro, as this will influence vehicle acquisition potentially with our European partners.”
