Briggs Equipment, the engineering services specialist, this week made a huge announcement; claiming to be pumping an extra 10.8m into their forklift hire division. As one of their biggest investments in recent years, the business says that expanding their fleet of vehicles for hire is a major priority for them. Though highly-regarded for its long-term lease services, the businesses has recently made waves in the short-term lease market; supplying to businesses across the nation.

Seeing both the fleet and team grow subsequently, the company now boasts over 5,000 pieces of equipment, employing 1,160 at their base in Orbital Way, Cannock.

But, where has the brand’s recent success come from? As well as supplying to businesses across the country, Briggs Equipment is also being utilised by the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence, having signed some major contracts with said organisations. This is in addition to supplying Hyster and Yale fork-lift trucks and handling equipment.

Steven Fogg heads up the short-term hire division at Briggs Equipment. Talking on their recent expansion, he says this investment is primarily to make their customers’ working lives simpler, eager to assist businesses and individuals through their solutions.

“The investment not only means a greater number of machines will be available, but a wider range of equipment which reinforces Briggs as the one stop shop and allows us to support the growing trend in our customers streamlining their supply chains to use us a sole supplier” he said.

Placing focus on their work within the events space, he continues:

“Our strategic partnerships enable us to supply rough terrain forklifts and roto-telehandlers, meaning that our events industry customers can get into even the trickiest spots no matter where they are trying to set up.”

“With our customers’ needs becoming more diverse, we need to hold a broader range of equipment than ever before. This £10.8m investment means that we have the right equipment available at short notice. Alongside that we’ve also made further investments in our transport, contract management and telemetry backing up Briggs’ mission statement of ‘Keeping Business Moving.”

Evidently in an exciting time of expansion, it appears that Briggs is another big brand diversifying. While their profit took a huge hit with the weakening of the Pound last year, the brand and well and truly coming out the other end.
