Whether you’re planning a children’s party or just a treat for someone with a sweet tooth, chocolate fountain hire is a great way to add a spectacular centrepiece to any event. But how can you make sure that the whole experience is the delight that you want it to be, and not a disaster? These hints and tips will ensure that things run smoothly.
Choose the right location
First, it’s important to consider exactly where your chocolate fountain is being placed. Although it might be tempting to site it outdoors, we strongly recommend that you reconsider. With bursts of rain or gusts of wind always a risk, your fountain isn’t designed to withstand inclement weather. Instead, place it inside, and away from any air conditioning units or fans that might cause the chocolate to cool.
Most importantly, you’ll need a sturdy table on which to stand your chocolate fountain. And, for the best results, you’ll want to use a spirit level to ensure that everything is properly lined up. If your fountain is uneven, the chocolate won’t flow properly, and the overall effect will not look nearly as good.
Supervise the fountain
Once your chocolate fountain is up and running, you’ll need someone on hand to ensure that it’s used in a responsible manner. If people start dipping wet or crumbly items into the chocolate, it could cause the fountain to clog up. Instead, nominate a person to keep an eye on the fountain and tell guests how best to use it. Or, if you don’t want the hassle, ask your hire provider if they can provide staff for an extra fee.
Most hire providers will supply a range of ‘classic’ dipping foods such as marshmallows, strawberries and fudge. However, there are plenty more unusual treats that lend themselves to the chocolate fountain experience. Why not try mini portions of your favourite dessert, or something healthier like pineapple chunks or seedless grapes?
