The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation has made one of the largest ever\u00a0donations in support of the global fight against hunger, thanks to an initiative set up to celebrate the firm’s 60th\u00a0anniversary.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0‘Fill Your Tank’\u00a0initiative\u00a0was\u00a0created\u00a0in October 2016\u00a0and\u00a0since then,\u00a0Enterprise Rent-A-Car has\u00a0pledged $20 million to food banks around the world.<\/p>\n
Carolyn Kindle Betz,\u00a0Senior Vice President and Executive Director of the\u00a0Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation, said:<\/p>\n
“The Fill Your Tank initiative has made an impact on community food banks and pantries around the world\u00a0and we are thrilled to continue to work with our hunger relief partners in 2018. Our employees have long supported food banks and pantries in the cities and\u00a0neighbourhoods\u00a0we serve. We’re continuously inspired by their good work.”<\/p>\n
Ms Kindle Betz added, “We launched the Fill Your Tank initiative at the end of 2016 to shed light on an important issue and strengthen the communities where our employees live and work. Food insecurity is a critical issue in thousands of towns and\u00a0neighbourhoods\u00a0around the world, and often, it’s an issue that doesn’t get the attention it deserves.”<\/p>\n
The\u00a0incredible\u00a0$20 million donation includes\u00a0$10 million\u00a0to local food banks and pantries in communities served by the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation, $5 million to Feeding America, $3 million to Food Banks Canada and $2 million to the Global Food Banking\u00a0Network.<\/p>\n
One of the main\u00a0beneficiaries, Feeding America\u00a0labelled\u00a0the donation as “critical” in the ongoing fight against hunger.\u00a0Matt Knott, President of Feeding America, said:<\/p>\n
“The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation’s annual donation is critical for the 46 million people we serve. This gift continues to help us fight hunger where it exists today and build programs to serve populations that may become food-insecure in the future.”<\/p>\n
