{"id":1637,"date":"2016-04-17T18:51:01","date_gmt":"2016-04-17T18:51:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.anythingforhire.com\/news\/?p=1637"},"modified":"2016-07-07T11:18:34","modified_gmt":"2016-07-07T10:18:34","slug":"mother-charged-34000-in-car-rental-blunder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anythingforhire.com\/news\/mother-charged-34000-in-car-rental-blunder\/","title":{"rendered":"Mother charged \u00a334,000 in car rental blunder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A mum from Prestbury, Gloucestershire, was one of 145 unlucky customers of Hertz Car Hire who were overcharged when using the company&#8217;s car <a href=\"https:\/\/anythingforhire.com\/hire\/\">hire service<\/a>, a blunder that saw many out of pocket at the start of the month.<\/p>\n<p>Although there were many stung by the I.T error Laura Newman was arguably stung he most,\u00a0seeing Hertz take a whopping \u00a334,00 from here account. Only expected \u00a3340 to be debited from her account her frustration is understandable, having to borrow money from friends and family to get by.<\/p>\n<p>Where many would have thought that their bank would protect them when such outlays prevail themselves it seems Santander failed Mrs Newman on tis occasion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The bank are not holding their hands up. I&#8217;ve got no money thanks to them letting the payment out. I&#8217;m really cross with them. I&#8217;m nervous because I haven&#8217;t got any money&#8221; she commented.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Newman also recalls a scam to take \u00a35 from her account recently, an eventuality that was\u00a0stopped by Santander&#8217;s anti-fraud team. Taking this into account it is quite extraordinary \u00a0that a\u00a0\u00a334,000 transaction was allowed.<\/p>\n<p>She added: &#8220;I don&#8217;t know how \u00a334,000 wasn&#8217;t flagged up by Santander.
