Wives and girlfriends of England\u2019s footballers have decided to hire a private jet to ferry them to and from the upcoming Euro 2012 championship amid fears for their safety.<\/p>\n
The WAGs have decided it is better to fly in for the games and leave for the UK the same evening, in order to avoid any violent or racist attacks from Ukraine and Polish fans.<\/p>\n
According to The Sun<\/em>, the players\u2019 wives and girlfriends are \u201cspooked by the threat of violence and racism\u201d and have decided instead to hire a private jet, estimated to cost them \u201ctens of thousands of pounds\u201d. A source revealed: \u201cThe idea is that they\u2019ll club together and pool the cost. There have been a lot of scare stories and the players don\u2019t want their WAGs to be put in any jeopardy.\u201d<\/p>\n The incident follows after families of black England stars, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, refused to attend the tournament for fears of being targeted in racist attacks.<\/p>\n Former England star Sol Campbell, who is also black, said that UEFA\u2019s decision to choose Poland and Ukraine to host this year’s tournament was wrong and endangers supporters who might face racists and violent attacks from hooligan gangs of local fans.<\/p>\n He warned: “Stay at home, watch it on TV. You could come back in a coffin.\u201d<\/p>\n All of England’s group games will take place in Ukraine.
