The sheer size and weight of the blow-up pub meant that it would have taken between four and five men to move the hired item. As the bulky inflatable item weighs over 350 kilos, nothing short of a truck of large trailer would have been able to shift it.
The novelty item, which is described as a “real crowd-puller”, was hired from Baillies Marquee hire for a Truckfest Event held at the Highland Centre in Edinburgh at the start of the month.
The PVC boozer, which costs £5,500, can hold up to 50 people and is one of only two available to hire in Scotland. The inflatable gives the impression of an old country inn, with mock wooden beams, tiled roof, chimney pots and even a dartboard.
As such as recognisable item, the chances of offering the blow-up pub for hire without being caught are very slim. Given this, it’s possible the thieves may have stolen the inflatable for their personal use. Alternatively the item could undergo a change of use and be used as a Santa’s grotto come the festive period.
A police spokesperson in Edinburgh confirmed that the theft of the blow-up pub marquee was being investigated and urged anyone with information regarding the disappearance of the inflatable to get in touch.
