Over the past few years, we have seen numerous large airlines form partnerships with car hire businesses, with many companies wanting to build packages that involve air and road travel in one. This week, a huge deal has been signed; one that will see popular car rental firm, Hertz, work closely with Eurowings.

Eurowings, a Lufthansa subsidiary, now work with Hertz and Thrifty on their frequent flyer programme; Boomerang Club.

So, what does this mean for the consumer? Well, according to the businesses involved, customers of the airline will be able to access new and exclusive deals. These bespoke deals will be available to all types of customers; including business passengers.

For those who are members of the airline’s Boomerang Club, they will now be able to earn points with the car rental firm. This new partnership means members can earn over 500 miles on their Hertz rentals and 250 miles on their Thrifty rentals. And, it’s not just money off customers can enjoy. Other benefits for Eurowings customers include being able to access the online check-in portal. This will enable them to save time when picking up their rental cars. It will also permit them to explore a range of other car options and a selection of add-ons. This includes Hertz Connect; a portable device that gives its users extra connectivity, unlimited calls and much more.

A happy team for Hertz

Michel Taride, Group President at Hertz International is thrilled to see this idea come to fruition. Believing the two companies can complement each other rather well; he says:

“We are delighted to partner with a fast-growing, recognized company, such as Eurowings. With Hertz and Thrifty available from Eurowings.com, the airlines’ leisure and corporate customers will be able to find a broad range of car rental options and products suitable to their budgets and needs. We are looking forward to start providing Eurowings passengers with a best-in-class car rental experience and great value for money.”

Oliver Wagner, General Manager at Eurowings, is also delighted to form this partnership. Talking of the deal; he says:

“No other airline in Europe is currently growing faster than Eurowings. Our aim is not only to sell our customers flights from A to B but also to provide them with additional services and guidance along the entire travel chain. We are pleased that in Hertz we have found a partner who will offer our customers top quality at fair prices.”

“This new partnership means that we can now offer an even larger range of rental cars. As a result we can satisfy every price requirement and give our customer the best travel experience from take-off to final destination” he continued.
