Europcar rebrands to Europcar Mobility Group

Car hire firm, Europcar, has been renamed Europcar Mobility Group as part of a company-wide rebrand. The rebrand comes as the business completes its expansion, transforming it from a leading car hire company to a global provider of mobility solutions.

In addition to its car hire operations, the newly-named Europcar Mobility Group now offer various rental vehicles services that include truck and van rental, car sharing, peer-to-peer car sharing and chauffeur services.

Caroline Parot, CEO at Europcar Mobility Group, commented:

“Our customers’ expectations and needs are rapidly evolving and we all know now that the traditional model of owning a car doesn’t fit-for-all anymore. Furthermore, thanks to technology and digital innovation, there are now many other smart and cost-effective solutions to get from one point to another, and that’s what really matters for people. In this context, there is a clear need for global mobility providers, making people’s lives easier. ”

Parot continued:

“We are convinced that we are in a very good position to play our role as a leader in this paradigm shift. We want to be the preferred ‘Mobility Service Company’ by offering attractive alternative solutions to vehicle ownership. Considering the identified market needs and our main strengths – among which are a comprehensive worldwide network and renowned expertise in fleet management – we believe that fulfilling this mission will allow us to sustainably create value and growth.”

The Group has been undergoing the diversification of its business since 2014 with the rebrand symbolic of its transformation. Earlier moves towards the expansion saw the company acquire European car-sharing start-up, Ubeeqo, as well as chauffeur service provider, Brunel.

Just last month Europcar added scooter-sharing start-up, Scooty, to its portfolio whilst also investing in Snappcar; the second largest international peer-to-peer car-sharing provider in Europe.

Despite enjoying an exciting time of expansion into various new markets, Europcar Mobility Group retains a prominent place within the car hire market. 2017 saw the acquisition of two major players in the car hire market; Buchbinder and Goldcar.

On the rebrand, Parot added:

“We needed a name that brought to life the transformation of the Group for our future developments, using the strength of our historical business and our number one position in vehicle rental. The name Europcar Mobility Group capitalises on the Europcar brand, whilst also providing the mobility context for future acquisitions.”
