Northern Ireland-based plant, tool and equipment hire firm, Balloo Hire, have received a £10 million investment as part of the company’s ambitious growth plans.

The significant investment will see a further 20 members of staff recruited across their five sites in Belfast, Bangor, Ballyclare, Lisburn and Glenavy. In a wide variety of available roles, the new positions created include administration, clerical, engineering, finance, management, mechanics and sales posts.

In addition to its recruitment drive, the major investment will also see Balloo Hire update their full range of equipment. As part of this they will add new machinery including new VIP toilets for events, dumpers, generators and site accommodation whilst also adding to an extensive list of garden equipment.

Who are Balloo Hire?

The family-run business was established in 1987, providing a wide range of products for both domestic and commercial use across Northern Ireland. Currently boasting over 6,000 units across a product range of 600 items, the latest investment will help the business continue to go from strength-to-strength.

On the back of a resurgent construction industry and the growing demand for on-site events equipment, Balloo Hire hope the latest investment will help them break into new markets whilst also displaying their intent to expand across both the UK and Ireland.

Mark Grundy, General Manager at Balloo Hire, commented:

“We have experienced significant growth in the construction industry which is still in recovery from the recession. This has resulted in the company winning new contracts across a broad range of sectors.”

“Northern Ireland has a burgeoning events and entertainment sector which has also increased the demand for our products and services. We predict these sectors combined will experience growth over the next 3-5 years.”

“As a result, we are investing in key staff and machinery to meet the demands of our customers and stay abreast of the competition.”

Mr Grundy added, “On top of the changes in the commercial landscape of our business there has also been an increase in demand for domestic use hire.”

Balloo Hire is currently offering services across a range of markets, from domestic DIY and gardening to major construction and manufacturing companies.
