But with so many options on the market, how can you choose the one that’s right for you? With our handy guide, you’ll be one step closer to the solution.
Obviously, the first step is to think about how many passengers your vehicle needs to carry. Are you looking for transport for a family holiday, for example, or just a romantic getaway for two? Also, it’s worth bearing in mind that a full five seater car will be quite a tight squeeze, so for longer journeys with multiple passengers you might want to consider a people carrier or other large vehicle.
Of course, it isn’t just people that will fill up your vehicle. You’ll also need to think about how much luggage space your party needs, particularly if you’re hiring a car for a holiday. How many suitcases do you have between you, and will you need to carry anything extra like surfboards or ski equipment? Working all this out beforehand will ensure that you hire a car with plenty of room for all your requirements.
Another important consideration is where you will be taking your car. If it’s for a trip to a city, for example, you’ll want as compact a vehicle as possible to make parking a breeze. On the other hand, if you’re travelling to a hot country, you may want to consider a convertible for added fun. Similarly, heating and air conditioning should be important considerations dependent on your destination.
Do you need GPS to help you travel through unfamiliar territory? Or perhaps a bike rack for your next adventure holiday? These days, hire providers offer a wealth of optional ‘add-ons’ to make your journey easier. However, they can get quite expensive - so make sure that you only pick up the ones you need.
